Plot
-Last human born and was officially recorded was in 1995.
-Humans are preparing to store testimonies, buildings, artifacts, paintings, books, music scores for the creatures that will one day land on earth.
-human species have lost the ability to reproduce
-year 1995= Year Omega , universal infertility
-by late 1990's the omega was still spoken of as a disease/malfunction which soon to be diagnosed and cured.
-humans are no longer interested in sex, lust, romance.
- Everything is done to 'preserve' the remaining humans: state-provided massages, golf.
-^All of these are part of Warden's promised leisure's.
-early 1990's: increase of pornography, sexual violence films/movies and became more explicit. But in the west less and less humans had sex and bred children. at the times, it seemed like a welcome development in a world grossly polluted by over-population.
-^Faron sees it as the beginning of the end.
-In the early 21st century, when the last generation was given birth reached sexual maturity and was found that none of them was able to produce fertile sperm, people realized that it was the end of the Homo sapiens.
-In 2008, the number of sucides increased, the age group was among the middle-age
"I cant think why you all seem so surprised at Omega. After all, of the four billion life forms which have existed on this planet, three billion, nine hundred and sixty million are now extinct. We don't know why. Some by wanton extinction, some through natural catastrophe, some destroyed by meteorites and asteroids. In the light of these mass extinctions it really does seem unreasonable to supposed that Homo Sapiens should be exempt, Our species will have been on of the shortest lived of all, a mere blink, you may say, in the eye of time. Omega apart, there may well be an asteroid of sufficient size to destroy this planet on its way to us now."

Starting from this point, Theodore Faron begins to go back in time...
-visits Xan's Woolcombe home every summer starting when he was 12 and his father died.
-Even though the two were cousins, they were very different and respected each other.
-they both made sure that they stay out of each others 'personal bubble'
-Xan never made Theo feel inferior to him... more so, it seemed like he was receiving back his twin, a special part of him.
-Theo's mother and aunt have lived very different lives, his aunt was a combination of beauty, ambition, good luck , and had married a middle-aged baronet.
As for his mother, was just a middle-grade civil servant.
-Theo and Xan are very different in personalities as well, Xan keeps his teachers puzzled, 1st term he would be a good schoolboy next term he would beget himself into troubles.
Theo would be an ordinary school boy, which was more intellectual than his classmates.
-Xan was their grandparents favourite.
-" 'I sometimes wonder if Theo wont go further than Xan in the end.' 'oh no, Theo is a good-looking, intellectual boy, but Xan is brilliant.'" Page 26
-Theo has never been back to Woolcombe ever since his mother passed away, 8 years ago.
-sometimes dream that he'll return to Woolcombe as an old man, and see the room that has never changed ever since the first time he's been at Woolcombe.
-father's death(Page 34-39)
-Theo had a daughter named Natalie.
-He ran her over by accident in 1994 when she was only 15months old.(page40)
-he was more horrified and felt immense guilt rather than grief for her daughter's death.
-Helena(theo's wife) thought that he cared less b/c he loved less, and she was right.
-He was jealous of his own daughter because his wife gave natalie her attention.
-After Natalie's death, they moved to St.John and Helena moved into a seperate room.
-He knew that she would rather have natalie alive than him
-One day at service, he saw a women that was in one of his classes awhile back (page 52 and on). The woman(julian) approached him after service
-Her and her friends created an 'underground' group that wanted to stop something from happening and wanted Theo to assist them since he was a member of the Council of England and the Warden's cousin.
-She wanted him to meet her and her friends.
-Theo was reluctant to go but later on still went
-The next day Jasper Palmer-Smith called theo and asked him to visit.
-Jasper taught theo history
-Jasper asked theo to meet him at his house to discuss of him moving in with Theo.
-Quietus-> Mass suicide of the old. (have been happening)
-Theo meets Julian and her friends who call themselves the FIVE FISHES in an isolated church. Julian's husband, Rolf does not seem like a person at peace with himself or the world.(Page 79)
-the others were Gascoigne, Miriam(midwife), and Luke(priest)
-The group wishes Theo to approach Xan on their behalf and ask for a democratic gov.
-Miriam tells Theo about her younger bro.(page88)
-Theo goes to see a Quietus and thinks back about his wife and daughter.
(page 101, 106)
-After his visit he decided to speak on behalf of the FIVE FISH and slips his reply on a piece of paper and tucks it in a secret slot in a museum
-Theo goes to visit Xan.
-Theo was expecting to see Xan in private, but turns out, it was with the full Council of England.
-The meeting did not go too well.
-Theo tells the council of wat he saw at the Quietus(theo doesnt think that it was suicide, he thought it was more like murder and the people killed werent killed at will.page136), and the Man Penal System(pg138)
-All his requests were denied.
-When Theo leaves, Xan follows him and they take a walk together in the park.
-Xan believes that the subject Theo brought up at the meeting were'nt from him personally but came from others.
-Xan bring up that many "Christians believe that the LAst Coming has arrived except that their God is gathering them one by one instead of descending more dramatically in the promised clouds of glory."(page148)
-Xan askes Theo to talk to the peopl that gave Theo the ideas and tell them ti be sensible or he'll take action against dissident.
-One day, Theo finds a piece of paper printed by the Five Fishes stating what change they want.
-Not much later after visiting Helena and duscussing about the sensitive subject, the SSP pay Theo a visit.
-Soon after, Theo meets Julian at the market and warns her about the SSP and tells her to free herself from the trouble Rolf is getting her into.
-She denies and Theo tells her to find him if she ever need him.
-Theo feels that he wants to escape from Oxford and take a vacation around Europe.
-When he gets back to Oxford 6 months later, he calls Helena and asks her if anythign has changed
-She tells him that the dissidents have blown piers in attempt to stop Quietus. the news has also reported that they're trying to invade and free all the convicts from the ISLE OF MAN, and try to depose the Warden.
-One night as Theo was making a salad, Miriam knocks on his door and tells him that Gascoigne has been caught and they're all on the run. She also informs him that Julian needs him but couldnt come herself.
-They leave in a hurry to meet the rest of the group.
-They need to get away before Gascoigne breaks and give the SSP their names.
-The others are in a Chapel at Widford outside Swinbrook
-When Theo left his home he took his Diary with him
-As they made their way to the Chapel dribinf Theo's car, Miriam tells him that Julian is pregnant.
-They decided to find a place to hide and have Julian give birth to the baby without notifying the Warden, even though Theo insisted that they should.
-Theo offered to stop at Jasper's house to collect things they needed for the birth and to switch his car to Jasper's
-When they arrived at Jasper's house, only Theo and Miriam went in. They foudn Jasper dead. Jaspewr committed suicide in his own home.
-They got all the supplies and food they needed, switched cars, and Theo locked the house and the gates.
-Theo said that if The SSP were after him, the first place they would search after his own home, is Jasper's.
-Theo finally got a chance to talk to Rolf in private, they talk Julian and the baby.
-Rolf believes that the main reason why he should exceed Xan is because he has an effective sperm, he wanted to be the first to show off the baby and not let the Warden do it.
-Rolf took over driving.
-Friday 15, oct 2021: theo says that for once he feels at ease with these 4 strangers and is finally learning to love
-As they were making their way through the country, they were stopped by a group of Omega's.
The group started a ritual and started dancing aroudn the car. The car was stuck between 2 obstacles placed by the Omega's
-Theo told the 4 members to dance with the omegas once they're out of the car and when they have the chance, Rolf with run with Julian
-The chance finallt came and as Rold dashed dragging Julian with him the omegas were about to go after them until Luke sacrificed himself. The omegas killed him.
-once the Omega's were occupied with the car Rolf and Theo snuck Luke out.
-When they were about to bury Luke by a tree, Rolf suddenly shone the torch full on Miriams face and asked her whose child was Julian carrying.(At this time Julian was kneeling on the ground cradling Lukes smashed head)
-Rolf was furious... he started to throw his body against a tree trunk.
-Miriam told Theo after him asking that Julian didnt love Rolf or Luke, she probably loved theo.
-Rolf confesses to Miriam that he made himself love Julian when they got married
-Julian says that Luked loved her but she didnt she felt bad for him in a way
-the next day the burried Luke
-In the morning(next day), Rolf was gone, they believe that he has gone to the Warden
-Theo went to the nearest village to get the supplies they lost from the attack and to find antoehr car. He broke into an old couples house tied them up comfortably in their own bed and gathered evreything he needed as well as the car.
-As they drove, Julian began to have sontractions. before they foudn the shack, the was a radio announcment to keep an eye out for the 3 of them and also the old women tied up was dead when they were found. Theo is now charged with murder and is supposingly dangerous because he;s armed.
-Julian gave birth to a boy. she had thought that it was a girl
--Theo had accidentally tipped over the kettle containg the important but only water they had left. Miriam went to the house they saw on their way to the shack to get more supplies as well as water
-JUlian becomes worried after miriam has left for over an hour. she pleads Theo to go find her. ONce theo had got to the house he found her inside dead, strangled by a chord. he closed her eyes and brought her outside, laid her down by a tree.
-After feeding Julian the canned food, and eatign himself julian hears someone approaching, its Xan.
-Xan doesnt know that the baby's born yet.
-He wants Theo to help him convince Julian to give birth to the baby with his care and he will marry Julian and Theo will join his council and be his lieutenant
-Rolf and Gascoigne were dead
-Theo said NO
-Xan held up his pistol and the moment he was about to shoot Theo, theo shot Xan right thorugh the heart.
-The councils and Grenadiers came
-Julian asked Theo the Chirsten the baby and name him after Luke and Theo..
